The Economic Times And Mediocrity

Last several months have seen one of the leading Financial news papers of India-The Economic Times devoting a very substantial part of its prime pages on criticizing Mr. Rajnath Singh: the BJP President to the extent that it seems the ET and not the political parties and personalities are the principal opponents of Rajnath Singh. Today it discussed some trivial internal adjustments of the Pracharaks in the states in four columns to prove that the present leadership is promoting mediocrity in the party.
Fed up of such stupid writings and priorities by a leading newspaper continuously for so many months in which major issues which may have been given importance like the one affecting the Indian community due to the recent terror attack on Glasgow airport which has brought the Indian community living abroad under the cloud of suspicion and any consequent economic impact thereafter, I think the prejudices of the paper must be put in perspective.
If Rajnath Singh promotes mediocrity and paper is so much concerned about it then the paper must make its stand clear on the following issues:
- The present generation is going to witness one of the worst times in the history of Indian Democracy wherein the would be President would not only face charges of committing several felonies but one who has had direct communication with the spirits. Think of the day when the journalists within the country and abroad would be asking from the Indian President questions about the spirits rather then the vision of India. Intelligence promotes rationalism and not mysticism. The later is closely associated with mediocrity. The paper should have written about this mediocrity of the Congress party. The LEFT which boasts of rationality are supporting this irrationality as there is a trade off. The intellect has compromised as the quid pro quo will help the Left in getting it the post of Vice President. The paper is not bothered about and has failed to give its opinion of these issues.
- Mr. Advani is considered to be one of the most intelligent politicians of this country. However, his intelligence did not ensure victory for NDA in 2004 elections. On the contrary when he took the reigns of BJP subssequently, the period became one of the most disastrous one for the party. Now again instead of concentrating on issues which have relevance for the party, his intellect and haste is compelling him to create such issues which will certainly rock the fortunes of the party if immediate damage control is not done. So excess use of intellect so much so that it refuses to see the virtues of wisdom is more dangerous then mediocrity. If the paper is so much concerned about the health of the BJP it should have thrown light on these events and processes and the consequences thereof.
- There can be several instances to cite but my only point is that the journalists must not be prejudiced. Fact must find a space first than opinion. The problem these days with the journalists are that they think that they can make opinions without putting news in correct perspective. This requires introspection by all the stake holders.
